NASCAR speeds into Kansas this weekend to kick off the second round of the 2024 Cup Series playoffs.
Kansas Speedway was the site of an exhilarating spring race back in May that ended in the closest finish in NASCAR history, with Kyle Larson edging Chris Buescher by 0.001 seconds in a photo finish.
Larson enters Sunday’s race atop the playoff standings after a dominating run at Bristol Motor Speedway last weekend. The 2021 Cup Series champion won the Kansas playoff race that year en route to his first title. Including that victory, Larson has five Top-4 finishes in the past six races at the Kansas City, Kansas, track, with his worst finish since the fall of 2021 being an eighth-place run, the following year.
But Larson isn’t the only playoff driver to watch at Kansas. Denny Hamlin leads all active Cup Series drivers with four wins on the 1.5-mile oval, while Joey Logano has triumphed there three times. Tyler Reddick also has a recent win at Kansas.
